PAR-Three Contest Held For Gourock Golf Club Anniversary

9 June, 2021 | Sport

GOUROCK Golf Club ran an innovative par-three competition as part of their 125th anniversary celebrations.

All holes were shortened in line with their blue course measured layout which meant that the lengths were similar to the original nine-hole course that was created back in 1896.

Nearly 100 members took part in this fun event which was open to gents, ladies and juniors alike.

Members with a strong short game were naturally at an advantage with scoring being highly competitive.

Results and prizes were as follows:

— Tied in 1st place, with a score of 50, 4 under par: Duncan Henderson and Clark McFadzean, each winning a 125 bag of goodies

— The scratch gents’ prize was won by Allan McEwing with a gross 57, winning 125 memorabilia

— The ladies’ nett winner with 51, 3 under par, was Frances Wilson, winning a 125 bag of goodies

Three juniors completed 18 holes and all received prizes — Craig Wallace, Rory MacPherson and Arran Duffy

Club professional Derek Watters competed and managed to get round in a very impressive gross 55, only 1 over par.

Gourock Golf Club are grateful to WH Kirkwood Limited for their continued sponsorship of the blue course.
