OVERNIGHT Carriageway Closures Planned As Part Of A8 Roadworks

DRIVERS face disruption during resurfacing work on the A8 at Port Glasgow.

Contractor Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, say the stretch between Newark Roundabout and Kelburn will be affected from Monday 11 March until Monday 18 March.

The work will be carried out using a combination of overnight closures and daytime lane closures, and a signed diversion will be in operation.

There will be two phases:

— Phase one will take place between Monday 11 March and Thursday 14 March, with closure of the eastbound A8 between Newark Roundabout and Woodhall Roundabout from 8pm to 6am each night.

Traffic management will be removed by 6am on Friday 15 March. Eastbound traffic will be diverted via the A761 Clune Brae and Glasgow Road to re-join the A8 at Woodhall Roundabout.

There will additionally be a westbound daytime lane closure on Monday 11 March to set up the traffic management.

— Phase two will take place between Friday 15 March and Monday 18 March, with a closure of part of Newark Roundabout and the A761 Clune Brae junction from 8pm to 6am each night.

Traffic management will be removed by 6am on Monday 18 March 2024. A8 traffic will be controlled by temporary traffic lights. Traffic for Clune Brae will leave the A8 at Woodhall Roundabout and follow Glasgow Road, and traffic from Clune Brae will follow the above diversion in reverse.

There will additionally be daytime lane closures on both carriageways on Monday 18 March 2024 to stand down the works.
