SEVENTEEN personal best times were achieved at Greenock parkrun on Saturday as 110 people took part in the five-kilometre Esplanade event.

The youngsters excelled with two of them breaking the 20-minute mark. Abi Hammerman, who runs in the 11 to 14 age group, and Harry Vance, who is under 10, finished in 19:37 and 19:35 respectively.

Lewis Scott also had a great run, taking his time under 28 minutes for the first time.

Meanwhile, among the adults, Robert Gray earned his fifth consecutive personal best (PB), and finished in 20 minutes exactly, so close to that coveted sub-20 time.

Callum Gorry added to his run of PBs, having now taken more than four minutes off his time since his first parkrun in February.

Also improving their times were Laura Hunter, Gillian Clayton, Pat McCarn, Claire Melville, Paul Beaton, Gordon Ritchie, Anna McDougall, Joe Percival, James Sutherland, Fred Beckett and Clive Nelson.

William Laing, above, completed his 50th parkrun, with all of his runs being at Greenock. He also achieved a PB, marking a reduction of more than six minutes since his first parkrun back in June 2015.
