Inverclyde Now Logo WINTER Sailing Theory Classes At Royal Gourock Yacht Club

29 October, 2018 | Local

ROYAL Gourock Yacht Club is offering winter theory classes as part of its adult social sailing programme.

Participants will be taught the basics of seamanship, after which they can learn to sail on one of the club’s six Piper-class keel boats during the summer season.

The first year’s social sailing participation is free of charge after which people have the choice of joining as sailing or social members.

Training, both afloat and ashore, is provided by experienced Piper helms and Royal Yachting Association theory instructors.

The only cost is the purchase of automatic/inflatable lifejacket and wet weather gear before the beginning of the sailing season in April 2019.

As well as allowing people to sample the sailing lifestyle, the programme offers the chance to enjoy the ‘après sail’ hospitality of the club’s bar and restaurant, normally available only to club members.

The first theory class in 2018 is at the Ashton Road club at 7pm on Friday 9 November.

Those interested or wanting more details should call Eduardo de Moura on 07761 289133 or Bob Wilson on 07833 732657.
