GREENOCK Table Tennis Club’s new season starts on Tuesday 7 August at the Gamble Halls, Shore Street, Gourock.

The club meets on Tuesdays — juniors from 7 to 8pm and adults from 8 to 9.30pm, catering for all standards of players.

Club coach Callum Gerrard said: “Table tennis is a great sport for fitness, fun and health. It is one of the sports where you are less likely to sustain serious injuries but at the same time it is good exercise.

“It improves hand-eye coordination and it stimulates mental alertness and concentration. The club currently caters for players of ages ranging from eight to over 80.”

Some of the players at the club have played in the West of Scotland League, the Scottish National League and have competed in other Scottish individual competitions.

Callum said: “I would certainly like to see more table tennis players in the district playing in the various leagues and competitions. However, whether you want to play just for fun or competitively, you will find a warm welcome at Greenock Table Tennis Club.”

Anyone interested can go along on a Tuesday night or contact Callum on 07540 221919 for more details. The club has five top quality tables and the upper hall at the Gamble Halls provides an excellent venue.
