Inverclyde Now Logo SWIMMING — Medal Joy For Port Otters At Kilmarnock Gala

FOURTEEN members of Port Glasgow Otters swim team took part in the Kilmarnock Jets annual open swimming gala.

It was an exciting and challenging competition with 15 teams competing in 86 events. There was some fantastic swimming from the team with many personal best times being broken.

After a fantastic day, the team returned with an amazing tally of 26 medals –- 11 gold, five silver and 10 bronze.

Lottie Barry won two bronze medals in the 75m individual medley (class 2) and 100m freestyle (open).

Richard Browning won gold in the 50m backstroke (class 1) and silver in the 100m individual medley (class 2).

Courtney Clark was triumphant in this, her first competition, by winning gold in the 25m backstroke and bronze in the 25m freestyle (both class 10).

Zak Gallacher won gold in the 25m freestyle (class 9) and bronze in the 25m backstroke (class 10).

Emma Thompson made a fantastic return, competing in her first competition having been off for seven months after surgery, by winning two golds in the 25m breaststroke (class 9), 25m freestyle (class 8) and silver in the 25m backstroke (class 8).

Andrea Gallacher won two bronze in the 50m backstroke and 50m breaststroke (both class 4).

Chris Dillon won gold in the 50m freestyle (class 3).

Lee Morrison won gold in the 25m breaststroke (class 6) and silver in the 50m freestyle (class 3).

Ross O’Donnell won two golds in the 50m backstroke (class 2), 50m breaststroke (class 4) and silver in the 100m freestyle (open).

Eve Cushnaghan swam well, just missing out on medals.

Paula Carroll won gold in the 50m freestyle (class 2).

Aimee Hagan won bronze in the 50m breaststroke (class 3).

Katy Boyle won gold in the 100m freestyle (open) and bronze in the 50m backstroke (class 1).

Isaac Dunning won silver in the 50m butterfly (class 1) and two bronze in the 50m breaststroke (class 1) and 100m freestyle (open).

The club congratulate all the swimmers on their achievements and for competing in such a great event.
