ROYAL Gourock Yacht Club is offering the opportunity to experience sailing on the Clyde.

The club’s adult social sailing programme starts again soon and a registration evening is being be held at the club in Ashton Road at 7 o’clock on Friday 4 May.

Participants can learn to sail on one of six Piper class keel boats during the season, then expand their knowledge of basic seamanship at winter theory classes.

The first year’s social sailing membership is free of charge.

Training, both afloat and ashore, is provided by experienced Piper helms and Royal Yacht Association theory instructors.

The only cost is the purchase of automatic/inflatable lifejacket and wet weather gear.

Those taking part can also enjoy the ‘après sail’ hospitality of the club’s bar and restaurant, normally only available to members.
