OCTOBER School Holiday Tennis Club Being Held By Greenock Clubs

ARDGOWAN and Fort Matilda Tennis Clubs in Greenock are running an October school holiday week tennis camp.

It takes place between Monday 15 and Friday 19 October at Fort Matilda Tennis Club in Newark Street.

The clubs’ head coach Stephanie Swan said: “We look forward to welcoming as many young people from nursery age to 16 years old as possible. The camp should be a lot of fun and they help develop tennis skills at all levels.”

As well as the tennis camp, both clubs are running coaching blocks for all ages and stages with racquets for all who need them.

No special clothing is needed for the camp and coaching blocks, but football tops should not be worn. 

Stephanie added: “For quite a long time now, Inverclyde has been dispelling the myth that tennis is only a summer sport with all three Inverclyde clubs having all-weather artificial grass courts for most of the last 20 years.

“There are some great tennis playing days in the autumn and winter and with all three clubs also now having very effective floodlights, plus good social areas, there are lots of reasons for playing tennis regularly and often.”
