A TRIO of Greenock parkrun regulars celebrated completing their 150th parkruns.

Eddie Devine has run at nine different parkrun events, with 137 of his parkruns being completed at Greenock, starting with event six back in June 2014.

Gerry Gillespie started his parkrun life in July 2015 and has completed all his runs at Greenock.

Neil Thomson has run at six parkrun locations, completing 126 events at Greenock, starting with the first local one in May 2014.

Meanwhile marking her 100th run was Moira McCluckie. Moira, above, has completed all her runs at Greenock and her first event was in May 2016.

Completing their 50th runs were Jim Brannigan and Sibylle Dow; Jim has done all 50 at Greenock, his first event being in June 2016, whilst Sibylle, below, has run at six different events, 20 times at Greenock.

Near perfect running conditions saw 121 runners turn out for the weekly five-kilometre event.

This included 18 first-timers, three of whom were completing parkrun for the first time. Almost a quarter of the returning runners — 23 — took advantage of the favourable conditions and improved their times over the Esplanade course.

Graeme Hanna recorded his first personal best (PB) time since January 2018, dipping under 29 minutes.

Kathryn Buchanan took more than two minutes off her previous best whilst young runners Elsie Doherty, above, right, and Lily Doherty, above, left, improved by five and eight minutes respectively. off their previous best times.
