15 January, 2018 | Local

GREENOCK parkrun welcomed 26 first-timers among the 130 participants on Saturday — including a group of Scouts.

The Scouts trying out the free, weekly, five-kilometre run on Greenock’s Esplanade were from the 85th Greenock and District troop, pictured.

Local teacher Mark Vance, pictured, completed his 50th parkrun. Mark was at the very first Greenock parkrun in May 2014 and has completed 49 runs at Greenock and one at Linwood.

Junior runner Marzella Luca, pictured, finished his 10th parkrun and was rewarded with a personal best (PB) time, running four and a half minutes faster than when he started in September. Fellow Junior, Alexander Boonsanong was also achieved a PB as he completed his third parkrun.

Meanwhile senior runner Paul Evitt also earned a PB in tough, windy conditions.

Greenock parkrun is held every Saturday and welcomes runners, joggers and walkers of all standards.
