NINETEEN people took part in Greenock parkrun for the first time on Saturday.

This included eight who were running their first ever parkrun. Eleven of the 116 participants recorded personal best (PB) times over the five-kilometre Esplanade course.

The first of these came from young Jude Dolan who also finished in the top 10 for the first time. Ohers who improved their times were Jim Bennett, David Holmes, Lynne Powell, Stephen Fulton, James Sutherland, Allan Rowan, Lee Alison, Louise Burrows, Kevin McFadden and Sophie Campbell who recorded her second PB in a row.

First finisher was Andrew White who had obviously recovered well from his 50-kilometre run in Perth last week. The second finisher was one of the first-timers, Cormac O’Hara, a para athlete, and close behind in third was Stuart Hodge.

The first female to finish was Iris Paterson, a junior in the 11to 14 age category. Lynne Powell was second and Kirsty Ormond was third.

One parkrunner had a double milestone to celebrate — Rhonda White, pictured, completed her 50th parkrun and also her 50th volunteer stint.
