Inverclyde Now Logo GOLF — Whinhill Junior Players Enjoy Annual Outing

7 September, 2018 | Local

AARON McCue and Kobi Phillips were crowned winners of the Whinhill Golf Club Junior Section annual outing.

The trip was held at Brucefields Family Golf Centre in Stirling and all juniors enjoyed a terrific day out. The outing serves as a reward to young players for all their hard work, practice and achievements over the summer season.

Brucefields was great venue as, together with excellent practice facilities, including a driving range, they had two courses.  One is a challenging nine-hole that was used for the competition featuring the Junior members who have official handicaps.

The other is an excellent nine-hole par-three course (with holes ranging from 64 to 132 yards) that was used by the Mini Junior members.  In wet conditions, most Juniors battled the elements well on courses they had never played before.

Aaron shot a gross score of level par to return a total of 21 Stableford points to win his section by one point from Darren Church.

Kobi, with 42 shots, won his section by a single shot from both Dean Black and Ross Docherty.

Whinhill Golf Club Junior Section thank Brucefields Family Golf Centre for their tremendous hospitality and all of the adults who came along on the trip to help supervise.
