WHINHILL’S Andy Hendry was crowned winner of the club’s Margaret Lever Seniors Open competition after returning an excellent nett score of 62.

The tournament is open to golfers over the age of 50 with an official handicap.

Sixty-four competitors took to the field with the hope of being crowned champion.

All were treated to a course in good condition with some excellent scores returned.

Andy edged out Alex Heywood of Greenock Golf Club by one shot with Alex’s consolation being securing victory in the Age Section A category.

The ever-consistent Joe McArthur took victory in the Age Section B category while club captain Robert Bell and Robert MacLeay (both of Whinhill Golf Club) shared the spoils in the Age Section C category.

The scratch prize went to John Donald of the home club who just narrowly edged out David Casement of Port Glasgow Golf Club courtesy of a better score on the back nine.

Whinhill Golf Club, Greenock thank the Lever Family for their continued support of the competition.
