GOUROCK Golf Club introduced a new competition during the 2019 season — the Platinum Trophy, with a £1,000 prize fund.

It was open to all full members who had been with the club for at least 10 years. This was part of a number of additional membership benefits the club have introduced for those in membership for at least a deacde, including free visitor sign on tickets, a reduced price season ticket for the indoor studio and a doubling of the bar discount.

More than 90 competitors took part in the inaugural Platinum Trophy and the club is grateful to Val Duncan, wife of the late past captain Alan Duncan for presenting a new salver to be competed for. Alan was a hard-working and much-respected member of the club — he served as captain during the 1986 centenary year. Play was very competitive.

In the second handicap section, Ian Knox, playing off a handicap of 19, came out on top with a nett 72.

In the lower handicap section, club match and handicap convener Gordon Crae posted the best score with birdies at the 6th and 15th culminating in a nett score of 71, two under par.

Coming out on top however was former club champion Ross Campbell who, with steady halves of 37 and 38, returned a score of 75 less five for an excellent nett 70.
