Inverclyde Now Logo GOLF — Low Scores At Gourock’s T O’Neill Open

9 September, 2019 | Local

NEARLY 146 players competed in the long-established T O’Neill Open at Gourock Golf Club.

The four-ball, better-ball competition attracted 146 competitors including a good representation from visiting clubs.

In a very competitive field with low scoring to the fore, Steven Hislop and Martin Brolly from Greenburn Golf Club in West Lothian took third prize with a nett score of 64. Their round consisted of a score of nett 32 in each nine including a nett eagle at the long 12th hole with Martin and Steven managing to avoid a bogey at any hole.

Second place went to the strong combination of Ian Samuel and David Burnie both of whom have been in great form throughout the 2019 season. David and Ian also posted a nett score of 64 with the foundation being laid by a run of five straight nett 3’s from the 3rd to the 7th hole.

First place went to home pairing Chris McNelis and Gary Loughran who had a late tee-off time and romped through the field to post an unbeatable nett 60 -– a round which included nine nett birdies and two fabulous nett eagles at the 8th and the 14th holes.

The club congratulate Gary and Chris on this superb 13-under par round which saw them lift the T O’Neill trophy.
