GOLF — Inverclyde Golf Hold Ladies’ Champion of Champions MatchTHIS year’s Inverclyde Golf Ladies’ Champion of Champions event was contested between Maureen Woodhead of Gourock Golf Club and Linda McDougall of Greenock Golf Club.
The match took place at Greenock Golf Club and the ladies were treated to a course in magnificent condition and blessed with great golfing weather.
Linda was three up at the turn with both competitors playing some solid par golf for most of the front nine. Linda’s excellent play, together with making full use of home course advantage, proved too much for Maureen.
Linda closed the match out by the score of 5&4 while only being around six over for those 14 holes.
Inverclyde Golf thank Greenock Golf Club for hosting the event. The match was played in an excellent sporting manner and mutual respect between both competitors was evident. Both champions were tremendous ambassadors for their golf clubs.
