Inverclyde Now Logo FOOTBALL — Update From Port Glasgow Boys’ Club

22 March, 2017 | Sport

2010s (Black) — This young team played four good opponents from St Paul’s on Sunday which saw a few close games. All of the boys worked hard, with good teamwork and great attitude.

2008s — The team continued their matches with an early kick off against Erskine at Port Glasgow Camous. The team set up with hat-trick hero from last week Sam playing up front and ably supported by Max, Kieran and Logan. Early goals from Kieran and an absolute cracker into the top corner from defender Louis saw the boys build up a commanding lead. Cameron has been working hard in training on his finishing and got back on the goal trail with some fine poacher’s goals.

The second half saw Euan allowed out of goal and he went about trying to get that elusive goal. After some fine work from Ben on the left, Euan scored with a great right foot finish, closely followed by Oliver who grabbed his first ever goal for Port Glasgow BC.

2004s (Black) — The team had no match this weekend as the boys travelled to Sunderland for a trip, where they were given a tour of the Stadium of Light, then put through their paces by Sunderland’s youth academy coaches before watching the match against Burnley.

Despite it being a disappointing 0-0 draw, the trip was a great success with all the boys having enjoyed their training by the Sunderland coaches.

This weekend the boys return to league action with a home match against Glasgow City. Players and coaches thank sponsors The Barber Shop (Greenock), Harkins Financial Services and Michael Stevenson

2004s (Orange) — This team is looking to strengthen including finding someone who can play in goal. Also anyone interested in helping with the coaching side of things is asked to get in touch with Terry on 07799 118675. The team thank sponsors Marcus Humphrey House
