2003s Port Glasgow BC 4 Hillwood BC Thistle 1

Port welcomed second-placed Hillwood to Parklea for a league game on Saturday. Port were determined to make amends for last week’s disappointing performance and were quickly into their stride, Lennon Crawley opening the scoring after ten minutes when he pounced on their keeper spilling the ball; he made no mistake from 12 yards.

Port scored their second ten minutes later when Josh Miller ran down the left wing, linked up with Lewis Kerr who then passed to Owen O’Rourke who scored from six yards.  Just before half-time, Kieran Hutchison forced a defender into conceding a corner and Lewis Leitch scored the third with a fine finish from the corner.

Hillwood started strongly in the second half and pulled a goal back when a slack pass-back allowed their forward to score.  Port defended well for the next 15 minutes with Stephen Morgan and Ben Wilson marking their opponents out of the game.

Port scored a fourth after 70 minutes when Josh Miller had another excellent run and squared the ball to Owen O’Rourke whose shot from the edge of the box was parried by the keeper and Josh Miller was on hand to shoot into the net.

Port now look forward to an away game against West End Soccer Glasgow next Saturday.
