Inverclyde Now Logo FOOTBALL — Newcastle Trip For St Andrew’s 2006s

ST Andrew’s Boys’ Club 2006s enjoyed a weekend of football fun in Newcastle.

The team had been fund-raising for the past year for the Easter trip.

The boys attended St James’s Park on good Friday for the Newcastle v Leeds game. At half-time, in front of more than 52,000 fans, four of the boys got to hit a penalty against the Newcastle mascot Monty Magpie.

On the Saturday morning the boys did some training with Newcastle coaches at one of their practice grounds before heading back to St James’s Park for the stadium tour.

The team then travelled to play Newcastle East End in two nine-a-side games.

The coaches of the local Newcastle team are now looking to travel to Greenock for a return fixture in the future.

Back at their bunkhouse accommodation in the evening, the boys enjoyed a free-for-all kick-about followed by games of pool, Jenga and cards with the tunes blasting

The boys were a credit to their families and St Andrew’s BC.

The 2006s thank all involved in the trip, everyone who helped and contributed to the fund-raisers as well as the Newcastle United FC Foundation.

The team also thanks to sponsors Everwarm, Utilita, and Topps Tiles their continued support.
