GREENOCK parkrun welcomed 126 runners, joggers and walkers to the weekly five-kilometre event on the Esplanade, among them 17 first-timers.

Good weather led to fast times with the first four runners completing the course in under 17 minutes. One of these was Chris Devine, a regular visitor from Newry in Northern Ireland, who trimmed a precious three seconds off his best time to reach 16:45.

A total of 13 people managed to improve their times and achieve a personal best (PB). Matthew Young, on his eighth visit to Greenock, shaved 17 seconds to reach 20:43.
