Inverclyde Now Logo CRICKET — Greenock Matches Fall Victim To The Weather

GREENOCK’S Premier Division fixture against Stirling County, which was due to be played at Glenpark on Saturday, fell victim to wet and stormy weather.

Only two matches, both on the Ayrshire coast, were completed on Saturday out of the full Western District Cricket Union (WDCU) programme of fixtures across six leagues.

Ayr lost to Clydesdale and Prestwick lost to Uddingston in matches which both had delayed starts, and as a result were reduced-overs matches.

The outcome of these matches actually assisted Greenock insofar as Ayr losing has opened up a bigger gap between the teams at the lower end of the Premier Division table.

Match Sponsor for Greenock’s game with Stirling County at Glenpark was Lodge Greenock Kilwinning XII

The Greenock 2nd XI fixture on Saturday against Kingholm at Dumfries was also cancelled because of the weather.
