Inverclyde Now Logo ATHLETICS — Georgia Starts Summer Season In Style

INVERCLYDE runner Georgia Morrison opened her summer with a fine 400-metre victory at the Lothian trials, held at Meadowmill Sports Arena.

The Sport Inverclyde-supported athlete was contesting the senior women’s race.

As the gun went, Georgia was up and into her running early following a new race strategy to the letter. Georgia flowed into the back straight and was setting the pace for her competitors to follow having the unenviable outside lane.

As she cruised through the 200-metre mark in the lead, Georgia was hitting all marks set by the coaching team.

Approaching 300 metres, a challenge to her lead was swiftly dealt with as she dug deep into reserves to move ahead, winning in the fastest female time of the day.

Georgia now looks forward to putting the Scottish weather behind her as she travels to Tenerife for a training camp.
