Inverclyde Now Logo AMERICAN Football — Inverclyde Goliaths Holding Open Days

30 January, 2019 | Local

INVERCLYDE Goliaths senior American football team holds the first of two open days this weekend.

The club hopes to attract new recruits in all capacities — playing, coaching and volunteering.

The open days take place on Sunday (3 February) and Sunday 10 February, from 1 to 3pm at Greenock Wanderers Rugby Club, Fort Matilda.

New arrivals to the team should aim to be at the facility for 12:30pm to register. Players need to be 18 years and older. American football experience is not required. Fitness levels are not of concern as there are dedicated training sessions and gym programmes available. Clothing and footwear suitable for outside activities held on grass should be brought.

Anyone with experience of American Football interested in coaching is welcome to go along and chat with current coaching staff.

Volunteering opportunities on the committee and on game days are available.

Inverclyde Goliaths successfully completed their associate season for the British American Football Associations (BAFA) in 2018, demonstrating a capable and structured club.

The Goliaths enter the BAFA National League Division Two North for 2019 where they will play eight games during late spring and summer against teams from Lanarkshire, Dumfries and northern England.
