LIGHTS, Cameras; Action To Tackle Anti-Social Behaviour At Industrial Estate

GOLDEN Casket Group has been given permission for security cameras and lights to deter anti-social behaviour outside their factory in Greenock.

Nineteen motion-activated cameras have been installed at the Fort Matilda Industrial Estate premises in Eldon Street. Seven spotlights will also be put up.

Planning consent was approved by Inverclyde Council officers who said the installations were compatible with neighbouring uses.

A report by officials states: "The camera are located so the vision arcs cover entrances, exits and boundaries within the curtilage of the site, with a single camera located on the eastern elevation adjacent to residential properties positioned to cover the road to be lit by the proposed spotlights."

There were no public objections.
