A DRIVE-thru Taco Bell restaurant is being proposed for the Waterfront Retail Park in Greenock.
An application for planning permission has been made to Inverclyde Council.
The Mexican-style eatery, with 92 seats, would be in the car park, next to Customhouse Way, across from the Waterfront leisure centre.
Permission was given several years ago for a restaurant on the same site. The new proposal features a smaller building, creating space for the drive-thru lane, landscaping, paths and outdoor seating.
The number of parking spaces in the retail park would be reduced by 41.
A document submitted to planners on behalf of the applicant states: "This proposal for a new Taco Bell unit would bring a new, globally-recognised restaurant chain to Greenock and would attract additional new custom to the retail park.
"The building will be constructed with quality materials and, with its 'transparent' nature will provide a welcoming presence in the centre of the site day and night."
The application is pending assessment by council planners.
