APPROVAL Given For Port Glasgow Housing Developments

How the Lilybank development will appear looking south from Birkmyre Avenue

TWO housing developments in the Lilybank and Broadstone areas of Port Glasgow have been given the go-ahead.

Housing association Sanctuary Group have been given permission for 28 properties for social rent.

Sixteen will be at the site of the former Lilybank School, fronting Lilybank Road, Farquhar Road and Birkmyre Avenue.

There will be three two-storey terraced blocks containing four three-bedroom homes and eight two-bedroom homes plus a two-storey cottage flat block containing four one-bedroom units.

The dwellings facing Farquhar Road will have a front garden parking space and the remaining residences will share rear court parking access from Lilybank Road.

Meanwhile 12 properties will be developed at the nearby former Broadstone Hospital site, -- known as The Orchard -- between 10/12 Broadstone Avenue and the care home building at Broadstone Gardens.

There will be three blocks of two-storey terraced dwellings. Four of the houses will have three bedrooms and eight will have two bedrooms.

The applications were approved by Inverclyde Council planning department.
