PASSERBY Came To The Rescue After Hearing Injured Woman's Cries For Help

THE son of a pensioner who was badly hurt in a fall in Greenock is hoping to get in touch with the young man who came to her rescue.

The 73-year-old woman, who lives near Fort Matilda, slipped in her driveway around 11:30 on Monday night.

Her son said: "She fractured her hip and wrist in the fall and was unable to move from where she landed. 

"She had also left her mobile phone at a friend's house and had no way of calling for help.

"Thankfully a young man leaving Fort Matilda station heard her cries for help and came to her aid. 

"He called 999 and waited with my mum until the ambulance arrived. I hate to think what might have transpired if he hadn’t come to my mum’s aid."

He added: "Unfortunately he didn’t leave any details. I would just like the opportunity to thank him and let him know my mum is recovering."
