EMERGENCY services carried out searches at Cardwell Bay, Gourock after a report of someone entering the water.

Coastguard rescue teams from Greenock, Largs and Ardrossan plus the lifeboat from Helensburgh and police units were called to Cove Road around midnight on Sunday.

They searched until 2am without locating anyone.

The area was checked again thoroughly at first light on Monday, again without anyone being found.
