BEACON Arts Centre Looking For New Board Members

THE board of directors at the Beacon Arts Centre, Greenock is appealing for people to come forward and help the venue flourish.

New board members from a range of backgrounds, with fresh ideas and skills to offer, are being sought.

Chairman Gordon Armour said: "With the support of our stakeholders we will be continuing with our commitment to attract the widest range of people as audience members and/or active participants to the Beacon.

"While we would like to recruit candidates with expertise in finance, community involvement, venue and facilities management, public relations, human resources, fund-raising and artistic programming, the list is neither prescriptive nor restricted and it is hoped that candidates will have a strong desire to see the Beacon Arts Centre flourish and develop for the benefit of the people of Inverclyde and the surrounding areas."

Vice-chair Isabel Lind said: "Making the arts accessible to everyone in Inverclyde remains the prime objective of the Beacon Arts Centre.

"However in order to achieve this we need the support and assistance from the whole of Inverclyde and I urge members from our local communities to step forward and provide fresh input and impetus to the board in its pursuit of further success and progress.

"Surprisingly even after five years, there are still some people who have as yet not visited the Beacon or sampled what it has to offer and we really must address that."
