AMAZON Gourock Donate To Children's Cancer Charity

AMAZON in Gourock has donated £1,750 to a holiday retreat on Bute that supports families with children who have cancer.

Calum’s Cabin offers respite for youngsters with cancer or cancer-related illness, providing a place where they can go with their families to spend quality time together.

The cabin was set up in memory of 12-year-old Rothesay boy, Calum Speirs, who lost his battle with cancer a year after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.

General manager at Amazon Gourock, Gavin Morrison said: “Calum’s Cabin plays a key role supporting families with children who have been diagnosed with cancer. The charity offers invaluable support and we’re happy to lend a helping hand. We were so impressed with the facilities during our visit and it’s great to know the money is going towards such a worthwhile cause.”

Caroline Speirs, Calum’s mum and chairperson of Calum’s Cabin, added: “We’ve seen first-hand the impact Calum’s Cabin can have on families’ lives during difficult times. The project means so much to us and it’s amazing when we receive a vote of support like this. We’d like to take the opportunity to thank the team at Amazon in Gourock for this generous donation.”

The donation forms part of the ‘Amazon in the Community’ programme through which the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK.
