NEW ‘Very Boring’ Ice Cream Shop Colour Is Flavour Of The Month With Planners

7 October, 2021 | Local

COUNCIL officials have approved a revised colour for a Kilmacolm ice cream parlour which painted its shopfront an “unacceptable” bright blue.

Plush Ice opened adorned in Rio Carnival blue, at the former beautician premises on Lochwinnoch Road.

But the owners were told by Inverclyde Council that permission should have been sought for the repainting because the building is in a conservation area.

An application to paint the premises in Tahitian Vanilla has now been given the go-ahead.

Kilmacolm Civic Trust expressed support for the existing blue saying it brightened the street and gave a bit of interest and character. The trust thought the proposed vanilla was “very bland and very boring”.

A report by planners stated: “The painting in the blue colours was done without planning permission. It was indicated [to the applicant] that the bright blue colour was not appropriate for a conservation area.”
