Inverclyde Now Logo NEW Greenock Salon Venture For Gourock’s Barber & Groom

THE owners of Gourock barbers Barber & Groom are celebrating after agreeing on a lease to expand into premises in Greenock.

Their new venture — Salon & Groom — will be in part of the former B-listed Clydesdale Bank building in Cathcart Street which until recently was occupied by Cathcart & Co.

Salon owners Heather Atkinson and Leigh Atkinson have taken a long-term lease while retaining the current team of hair stylists at the premises.

The new operation is aiming to deliver a mixture of hairdressing, barbering and salon services, including beauty treatments, across two floors.

The building is part of the Dalglen Property Investments portfolio which is owned by Inverclyde businessmen Sandy and James Easdale.

The new tenancy represents another letting deal for commercial property services firm Bowman Rebecchi, which launched in February.

Heather Atkinson said: “Both Leigh and I welcome this opportunity and expansion to our Gourock operation, which we will continue to develop alongside Salon and Groom in Greenock.

“The new business is the next natural step to develop a broader range of services locally that will offer a salon for everyone regardless of gender. We look forward to welcoming back our existing clientele and are excited to meet new clients.

“Our ethos is to provide a complete hair and beauty service for all ages and gender in a safe and relaxing environment.

“Naturally, we are unable to be fully operational yet given the current Covid-19 situation, but we are preparing behind the scenes to move swiftly as soon as the sector is approved to do so by the Scottish Government.

“We’d like to thank Marco and Bowman Rebecchi for helping this deal complete despite the challenges lockdown presented.

Further investment has also been put into the Barber & Groom premises on Kempock Street, with a new shopfront being fitted.

Marco Rebecchi, director of Bowman Rebecchi, said: “Despite the challenge’s that lockdown presents, we were able to offer a flexible and pragmatic approach to this letting much to the delight of both the landlord and new tenants.

“We are delighted to see this fantastic salon space back in operation, and we wish Heather and her team every success with the new venture once it can re-open.

“Bowman Rebecchi has experienced a significant increase in property interest over the past four weeks, and we continue to receive more enquiries each week across the wider portfolio as we move through the phases of the lockdown.”
