FERGUSON Marine shipyard in Port Glasgow has appointed Duncan Anderson as the permanent chair of its board.
This comes after Duncan was appointed as interim board chair in October last year.
With more than 40 years’ experience as a chartered marine engineer, Duncan brings a wealth of shipbuilding and ship operations expertise.
He has overseen the design, operation and construction of more than 100 vessels in shipyards across Europe, the Middle East and South East Asia.
Duncan has a proven track record of scaling maritime operations, growing profits at Gulf Marine Services in Abu Dhabi from $11million to $137million in just eight years during his time as chief executive of the business.

Graeme Thomson, chief executive of Ferguson Marine, said: “Under Duncan’s leadership, we will continue to modernise our shipyard, improve governance and sharpen our operational delivery.
“I am certain that with Duncan at the helm, our board and senior leadership team are well-positioned to secure the future of Ferguson Marine and will guide us successfully into this next chapter.”
Duncan said: “As incoming chair of the board, my focus is clear; transform Ferguson Marine into a modern, efficient and profitable shipyard.
“I look forward to continuing to support the management team to establish its strategic direction that will enable it to compete confidently, secure new contracts and build a sustainable pipeline of work.”
Duncan will be responsible for ensuring Ferguson Marine makes progress against its key priorities, which include accelerating the delivery of ferry Glen Rosa and BAE Systems work, upgrading the yard’s equipment and infrastructure, and securing new orders.
