MSP Visits New Gourock Delicatessen As Part Of ‘Shop Local’ Campaign

THE latest food and drink outlet in Gourock’s Kempock Street was visited by a local MSP for Small Business Saturday.

Wildfire Deli — a partnership between husband and wife Alex and Lorna McGilp — welcomed Stuart McMillan MSP for Greenock and Inverclyde who was highlighting the ‘shop local’ message.

Alex said: “I was glad to welcome Stuart to Wildfire Deli and show him what we have to offer customers.

“We believe that we are adding something unique to the already fantastic food and drink offering on Kempock Street and have been grateful for the support thus far from customers and other local firms.

“The covid-19 crisis has highlighted how much people love and rely on local businesses, so I hope that people will support ourselves and our neighbours on Small Business Saturday and in the future.”

Stuart said: “The past eight months have been hugely challenging for local businesses, so I welcomed the opportunity to support Small Business Saturday as it’s more important than ever to shop local.

“Wildfire Deli adds to the great retail and hospitality offering in Gourock and I look forward to seeing the business grow.

“Alex and Lorna’s venture is also supporting other local businesses, including Tonino’s and Moonbow Bakery, by selling their produce. It is great to see local firms supporting each other and really epitomising that community spirit, especially as we continue to navigate the pandemic.

“I know we all love our local businesses -– whether it’s restaurants, delicatessens, retailers, florists or beauty salons –- so let’s give them an early Christmas gift by shopping local.”

Small Business Saturday is grassroots, non-commercial campaign which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to support small businesses in their communities.
