SCOTTISH Water is to carry out up to two weeks of work on the A78 in Greenock to assess the condition of the sewer network.
From Monday 7 July, the A78 Inverkip Road will be reduced to one lane under four-way traffic lights between Auchmead Road to just past Aileymill Gardens.
The work involves cutting slit-trenches to assess the condition of the underground sewer pipe. Scottish Water say that whilst the survey work is ongoing it may appear as though there is limited activity at the site.
A Scottish Water spokesperson said: “These investigations are needed to help us identify and plan potential work to improve the local sewer network.
“To keep road users and our teams safe we have to reduce the road to one lane, but we will do all that we can to keep any delays to a minimum.
“The work has been planned for the school holidays given how close we will be to Inverclyde Academy, which should help.
“We would like to thank road users and residents for their patience and understanding.”
