MORTON ‘Disappointed’ After 10-Match Ban For Manager

18 February, 2022 | Morton, Sport

MORTON manager Dougie Imrie has been given a 10-match ban following a hearing today.

It was revealed last month that Imrie was subject of a Scottish Football Association ‘notice of complaint’ over alleged breaches of betting rules between 2011 and 2019, when he was a player.

He is banned for the next six matches. The other four matches are suspended until the end of next season.

Imrie only recently became Morton manager and the team has been unbeaten in their first six matches with him in charge.

In a statement published on its website Morton said: “The club are disappointed with the severity of the punishment despite the representations made on Dougie’s behalf by the club and Dougie himself.

“The club have requested a full explanation from the panel for the reasons behind their decision.

“Upon receipt of that explanation, the club will discuss with Dougie the possibility of an appeal against this decision.

“We will be making no further comment at this time, but the club board would like to reaffirm its backing of Dougie in this process.”
