MORTON Confirm Temporary Management Arrangements

6 December, 2021 | Morton, Sport

THE head of Morton’s youth academy, Derek Anderson, will be in charge of the team while the club search for a new manager.

He will be supported by assistant manager Andy Millen and reserve team coach John Sutton, the club said.

The arrangement follows the sacking of Gus MacPherson on Saturday.

The club said: “A thorough recruitment process will now take place to ensure that the right manager is appointed to take the club forward.

“This season, in the first of community ownership, the focus is undoubtedly survival in the Championship.

“However, we are currently within touching distance of sixth [place] and there is still time to finish the season as high up the table as possible.”

The statement continued: “We would like to thank all supporters for their patience and loyal backing.

“We now have two important home games against Inverness at Cappielow, first on Tuesday in the Scottish Cup, and then in the league next Saturday, and it would be great to have a busy Cappielow getting right behind the team for those matches.”
