Inverclyde Now Logo MORE Than A Fifth Of Runners Go Faster At Greenock Parkrun

TWENTY-five people improved their times on the Greenock parkrun five-kilometre Esplanade course on Saturday.

Rain didn’t stop 121 runners, joggers and walkers taking part in the weekly event, including seven first-timers.

First over the line with a phenomenal time of 15 minutes and 28 seconds was Stephen Trainer — a personal best (PB) time for him and only 26 seconds short of Ryan Thomson’s record time at Greenock parkrun.

First female finisher, with her fastest time this year, was Donna Campbell in 22 minutes 23 seconds.

The first junior to finish was Danny Casey, also with an in improved time, of 20 minutes and eight seconds.

Others achieving PBs were Graeme Morrison, Joel Loughlin, David Holmes, Alan Dick, David Reid, James Campbell, Calum Vost, Chris Burrows, Susie Waugh, Lorraine Sharp, Fiona McEwan, Stella McCabe, Alan McDonald, Andrew Lyle, Harry Turner, Orlaidh McDonald, Alessandro Alonzi Guinchard, Heather Cullen, Alison Sturgess, Lara Juliet Mant, Annette Holliday, Iona McKnight, and David Traynor.
