THE first convoys carrying huge turbine blades for a windfarm being built in the hills near Greenock travelled to the area today (Tuesday).
Two trucks escorted by police motorbikes travelled to the site from King George V Dock in Glasgow.
Two convoys are expected each day until late August.
The eight-turbine wind farm is being developed by renewable energy firm BayWa on parts of Burnhead, Lurg and Maukinhill Moors and Corlic Hill.
The turbines will be 213 feet (65 metres) high at the hub level with a blade-tip height of up to 110 metres (330 feet).
The site is about 2.4 kilometres south of Greenock town centre and the nearest turbine will be about 1.2 kilometres from houses on the southern edge of the town.
