A THIEF attacked a man who caught him breaking into a garden shed in Gourock.
At least two intruders were disturbed at the rear of a property in Manor Crescent around 10.30 last night (Wednesday) by a 37-year-old man who had been visiting a relative.
He chased one of them towards Glen Avenue but the thief turned on him assaulted him with a weapon — possibly a pointed knuckleduster — inflicting wounds to his face and leg.
The victim was treated at Inverclyde Royal Hospital.
Police recovered stolen items including a bike.
Any witnesses are urged to call police on 101.
