9 June, 2021 | Local

A DRIVER pulled over by a police patrol in Greenock was allegedly in possession of a knuckle-duster.

Officers also seized cash from the motorist after having reason to stop the car on Patrick Street at 6pm yesterday.

Sergeant Jason Logsdon said: “Due to the circumstances, the driver was detained for a search under misuse of drugs legislation whereby officers [allegedly] recovered a knuckle-duster and a large quantity of cash — over £1,200).”

The 34-year-old will appear at court on a later date. The cash was seized under Proceeds of Crime legislation.

Area commander Chief Inspector Paul Cameron said: “I am astonished that some people think that it is still acceptable to such carry weapons.

“The possession of weapons in Inverclyde will never be tolerated, it endangers lives and those who continue to do so should expect to be arrested.”
