A MAN allegedly fled from a car stopped by police in Greenock.
Officers on patrol observed the occupants of a vehicle acting suspiciously on Douglas Rae Road, James Watt Dock, on Saturday evening.
Sergeant Jason Logsdon said: “When they stopped the vehicle one of the occupants allegedly fled carrying a bag and was pursued by officers.
“After a short foot chase this male was [allegedly] found to be carrying a quantity of herbal cannabis and white tablets.
“Due to the quantity and circumstances a 23-year-old male was charged with drug offences and scheduled to appear at court on a later date.”
Inverclyde area commander Chief Inspector Paul Cameron said: “This is another excellent example of pro-active work being done by local officers to dismantle the drug supply network in Inverclyde.”
