UPDATED — Man Badly Hurt In Alleged Greenock Attack

TWO people were arrested after a man was allegedly attacked with a broken bottle during a disturbance in Greenock.

Emergency services were called to Holmscroft Avenue, near the health centre, around 4.30 on Saturday afternoon.

The man, aged 41, was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment. He will undergo surgery today.

He suffered a serious arm injury and multiple small puncture wounds to his upper body.

Police arrested a man, aged 46, for alleged serious assault, and a woman, aged 41 for alleged common assault.

The male accused is expected to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court tomorrow from custody.
