POLICE were called to a report of an intoxicated male causing a disturbance in a Greenock shop.

The 20-year-old was allegedly shouting and swearing at throwing items at staff at Usave on Lynedoch Street around 5:40pm yesterday (Thursday).

He was arrested and charged, and is scheduled to appear at court on a later date.

Area commander Chief Inspector Paul Cameron said: “This is a disgraceful alleged incident against shop staff who are out working and trying to provide an essential service during the pandemic.

“This kind of behaviour will not be tolerated and people who abuse shop staff will be held to the full extent of the law.”
