LUXURY ‘Gentleman’s Motor Yacht’ Bought During Billionaire’s Reign At Shipyard Is Put Up For Sale

A 25-METRE vintage motor yacht has been put on the market by Ferguson Marine shipyard in Port Glasgow.

The vessel was bought by the previous owner of the yard — billionaire Jim McColl’s company Ferguson Marine Engineering Ltd (FMEL) — which went into administration in August 2019.

New management at the shipyard, which is now owned by the Scottish Government, say they have no purpose for the yacht and have decided to sell it.

It requires a complete renovation and restoration and it is not currently in a condition which will allow immediate relaunch, recommission or operation of systems.

Launched in 1952 as Anahita V, the vessel is described as a gentleman’s motor yacht, designed and built by Feadship, the Dutch company with a global reputation for building high-end luxury yachts.

It was constructed with a teak plank and metal structure and the accommodation offers a master suite, two guest suites, two deck saloons, wheelhouse, galley, skipper’s cabin and a three-berth crew cabin. At the time of its launch, it was the largest Feadship constructed.

An independent sail and motorboat broker is managing the sale on behalf of Ferguson and adverts are now live across a range of yacht publications and websites.

Tim Hair, turnaround director at Ferguson Marine (Port Glasgow), said: “The yacht is part of the inventory of assets compiled when the shipyard went into administration. We do not know why it was purchased and have no reason to keep the vessel.

“Given its teak construction, we don’t have the resource or tools within the shipyard to renovate it. The best course of action is to sell it. Perhaps someone can bring what was once a stylish and elegant yacht back to life and into service.”
