KILMACOLM Takeaway Proposal Rejected By Planners

22 January, 2021 | Planning

AN application to turn a shop unit in Kilmacolm into a hot food takeaway has been refused by Inverclyde planners.

The proposal involved premises formerly used as a post office at 1 Ardgowan Place beside Port Glasgow Road at Market Place in the centre of the village.

In their report, officials said the flue required for disposing of cooking fumes would breach planning policy by “not reflecting local architecture and urban form”. They also said it would “neither preserve nor enhance” the Kilmacolm Conservation Area.

The planning reported added that the lack of off-road parking would result in “manoeuvres detrimental to traffic safety”.
