KILMACOLM Residential Plan Approved By Council

INVERCLYDE councillors voted to allow development of fields at Kilmacolm for housing.

Mactaggart & Mickel Homes Ltd is proposing 75 properties at Kilmacolm Meadow, west of Quarry Drive.

A full meeting of the council approved the application for planning permission in principle. Nearly 500 villagers had objected.

Detailed plans will still need to brought forward for consent.

The full council rejected a proposal by Taylor Wimpey (West Scotland) to build around 100 houses at Planetreeyetts, Kilmacolm.

The Quarry Drive site has been earmarked for residential use in the proposed new Inverclyde Local Development Plan but the Planetreeyetts site is identified as remaining green belt.
