A THIRD man has been jailed in relation to the largest cannabis cultivation found in Scotland.
Police officers acting on intelligence searched a disused retail unit on West Stewart Street, Greenock on 21 January last year and discovered a cannabis cultivation worth up to £3.6million.
Antonjo Selami (38) was sentenced to three years and nine months at the High Court in Edinburgh for being concerned in the production of a controlled drug.
Two other men — Auriel Xhoka (33) and Glendian Daci (26) — had already both been jailed for three years and nine months in December.
The sophisticated set-up included a total of 6,000 plants in two large growing areas. Each area had irrigation, industrial heating and lighting units for the plants. The three were arrested and charged in connection with the recovery.
Detective Inspector Gordon Smith said: “Uncovering a cultivation of this scale has a significant impact on the supply of cannabis onto Scotland’s streets.
“I hope that this sentencing sends a clear message to anyone involved in the production and supply of illegal drugs that we will use all resources at our disposal to track you down and ensure you face the consequences.
