On behalf of the organisers, Chris Jewell said: “We were so glad at last to be able to meet in person and award these trophies to the well-deserved winners.

“Thanks are due to everyone who took part, to our sponsors and to all who entered and to all who voted.

“The number of votes cast, at more than 100,000, smashed all previous records by a mile!

“We are very hopeful of being back in the New Year to make more awards for 2020 and 2021 combined.”

Coach of the Year winner Shirley Reford was unwell and not able to attend to receive her trophy.

Young Sports Personality award winner Sean Fischer-Keogh could not attend because of cricket commitments and the award was collected from Kieron Vango of Inverclyde Leisure on his behalf by his brother Lukas.
