INVERCLYDE Planners Reject Port Glasgow Housing Plan

10 March, 2021 | Local, Planning

A PLAN to build houses on land set within the hillside above Glasgow Road, Port Glasgow has been refused.

The application south permission for the principle of residential development at the site of the former Carnegie Park Orphanage/ Langlands School, beside Port Glasgow Cemetery.

The proposal was for five detached houses, each with four bedrooms, large gardens, integral garages and driveways.

But Inverclyde Council staff decided against the development saying it would breach a number of planning policies.

Reasons for refusal included loss of native woodland and habitat and difficulties over creating road access.
